I’ve been learning Mandarin online with Yatchun Wong at Pistachio Mandarin Language Centre in preparation for living and working in Shanghai as a teacher. The experience has been excellent. My lessons were tailored to my needs as I had input on what we focused on, making everything practical for real-life situations. I can only rate this centre very highly. Teacher Yatchun and her team are amazing. Teachers were kind and good with children. Very good teacher to children ratio. According to my child it was always fun and he would come home saying a few mandarin words that he learnt in class. We would not have stopped if it wasn't for a clash in activity but definitely will try to join in again soon.
We have been with Pistachio Mandarin Language Centre in Auckland for over a year now. Our daughter has been taking the kids classes. She is thriving due to the great tution provided by Yatchun Wong and her staff. The teaching is fun and engaging. I would highly recommend this company.

I am currently enrolled in mandarin online classess for adults at Pistachio Mandarin Language Centre with Yatchun Wong as the primary tutor/teacher and business owner. I really appreciate their focus on cultural meanings to key phrases of the language. It is very helpful and provides added meaning /purpose around the context of the sentence. I have been attending the online lessons for nearly six months and have thoroughly enjoyed not only learning the language but also the association with teachers/tutors and other students. I have traveled to China and having a few basic mandarin sentences and phrases on hand has given me confidence to chat openly with the locals and my chinese friends and it has also given me an appreciation for China, the people, and its rich culture. Yatchun is engaging and was very interested in my motivation for learning some Mandarin. She is a terrific advocate for her business. Taking Mandarin courses with Pistachio has been an incredibly enriching experience. The language's tonal nature and intricate writing system initially posed challenges, but with dedicated practice and supportive instructors (thanks Andrea and Yui!) I've made significant progress. The classes not only focus on grammar and vocabulary but also delve into Chinese culture, history, and customs, providing a holistic learning experience. Our son has attended Chinese classes for over 1 year. Before this we tried various online or other classes. This is the best. They just don't teach the language, but culture and also traditions to give an all round learning experience. On top of that their classes, modules and teachers are amazing. My 3 kids have been learning mandarin with Ms Yatchun and her team of excellent teachers. The classes have been well structured and they have kept it interesting and fun for the kids. The kids class is a fun mix of songs, craft activities and games combined with conversational and written language skills. The homework is manageable. The adult class covers both written and oral language, mixing conversational stills with grammar and syntax. It is highly interactive where questions are welcomed, and enjoyable.
Overall, I highly recommend Pistachio Mandarin to adults wanting to learn Mandarin themselves and parents wanting to help their children learn this valuable skill. We are a New Zealand Pakeha family and the skills we have learned so far have already helped us in our daily lives living and working in Auckland.
Nin hao. My daughter and I have been learning Mandarin for 2 years with Pistachio. I have always wanted to be able to converse with those in my workplace and felt it would be hugely helpful for my daughter in future for any career she might chose.
The teachers are friendly and really help explain the language points that are vital to understanding this language. We have loved the mix of customs, cuisine and language that has made it come alive for us.
